The latter is also known as rooting the device. In this regard, there are two different approaches. The first one is via the TWRP Recovery. But not many users prefer replacing their stock recovery with a custom one. Furthermore, though there is a TWRP build available for Nord, yet it is in the beta stage and hence could be unstable. So until there comes a stable TWRP build, people wish to stay away from the unofficial builds. In that case, people usually go for the alternative method to root their devices.
That second method involves extracting the stock boot image file, patching it via Magisk, and then flashing it via Fastboot Commands. But it is with the first step that usually spells trouble for most of the users. The thing is you cannot simply extract the firmware and get hold of the stock firmware file. All the important files like the boot, vendor, modem, vbmeta, and other image files come bundled inside the payload.bin file. And extracting that requires quite a lot of effort, using the Python and payload Dumper Tool.
In this guide, this guide will come in handy. Here, we have uploaded the stock boot image files for the OnePlus Nord. The files have been categorized as per the OOS version and the region to which they belong. AC01AA stands for the Global variant, AC01DA is the Indian build, and AC01BA follows the European version. Please make sure to only download the stock boot image file corresponding to your OOS version and your region. On that note, here are all the OnePlus Nord Stock Boot Image Files.

Do you have a page for the OnePlus Nord N100 which covers all of the same as listed in this article?
Sadique Hassan
Hi Antonio, I don’t have it as of now. But if you want a stock boot.img file for Nord N100, let me know the current software version and the region, and I will extract the stock boot.img file via python and upload it here.

Thank you very much for this comprehensive breakdown including the files.
I’m not a developer of any kind, and thus probably speaking on behalf of many a consumer/layman here; but I’m wondering if there is any risk involved in cross-flashing a different regional boot image to the original OOS version and region?
The reason I ask is because I am using the Nord in Japan while my version is the Indian AC01AA. I’m curious to know if I can use the Global variant, AC01DA instead? Furthermore, is there is any point / gain in making this change (I’m new to Android) or is it too risky / pointless?
Sadique Hassan
Hi Kit, that’s an interesting question. True to my knowledge. if you cross-flash a different regional boot image, it will surely cause issues with the modem, and in the worst case, might brick your device as well. Since your device has the underlying firmware of the Indian AC01AA variant, then you should extract the stock boot.img of the Indian build only and not the Global variant. It doesn’t matter the user location, the only thing that should matter is the region of the OS currently installed on your device.
So download the stock firmware of Nord (Indian variant) from the OnePlus Official site and then refer to the guide to extract the stock boot.img from the payload.bin file: How to Extract Stock Boot.img from OnePlus OxygenOS Stock ROM
Hope this helps!
