In this update tracker, we will keep a check on all the latest Android 11 developments surrounding all the Motorola devices. It has literally been months since many OEMs have released their update schedule. As of now, some devices are already running the stable Android 11. Likewise, some have entered the close beta phase and are getting a taste of the latest update.
Unfortunately, Motorola was quite late to this party. The extent of this late could be considered by the fact that the OEM has released the list of eligible devices after nearly 3-4 months of the Android 11 update. But even then, they have done half the job. The timeline doesn’t even have an expected release date for any of its devices.
Considering the fact that most of its devices run the Android One OS, things don’t turn out to be good either. All in all, there are a lot of concerns regarding when your Motorola device will get the latest iteration of Android. Henceforth, we have decided to cover in detail all the news for the Android 11 Update for your Motorola device. Follow along.

What’s New in Android 11 for Motorola Devices
There are a plethora of noteworthy features in store for Motorola devices. To begin with, there will be a new Conversation section in the Notification panel. Likewise, there is also the introduction of Chat Bubbles. These will act as an overlay with just the display picture of the contact. You could tap on the desired contact’s bubble, start the conversation, and then send it back to the minimized state or close the bubble altogether.
Furthermore, the Media Player has now been moved to the top and is placed in the Quick Settings panel rather than the Notifications section. Add to it, the Media Control has also been incorporated inside the Media Player itself. Then there is also news of Motorola devices getting a Samsung like Dex Mode which it calls the Desktop Mode (surprise, surprise!). Then perhaps the biggest change is to the Power Menu.
Undergoing a major overhaul, you could now control your Smart Home appliances right from here. Likewise, making NFC payments via Virtual Cards using Google Pay could be carried out right from this menu itself. There have been changes in the Privacy front as well. You now get a new One Time Permission set. This will let the user give the app access to your device’s microphone, camera, etc only while it is running in the foreground. All in all, there are quite a few goodies in the latest Android 11 update for Motorola devices.

Concerns with Motorola One Action Android 11 Update?
There are some doubts that seem to be bugging quite a lot of Motorola One Action users. This device comes with Android One OS out of the box and was launched with Android 9.0 Pie. It started receiving Android 10 updates in the month of December last year (2019). And for some regions, this might be the last update that their device would have got.
Motorola One Action users in the USA and Canada would not be getting the Android 11 update. The reason? Well, this device in both these regions comes with Motorola’s own customized OS skin and does not run Android One. As a result, it was only promised a single year of an upgrade. And it has got its fair share of that update (in the form of Android 10).
On the other hand, Motorola One Action will get the Android 11 update in Latin America and Europe, excluding Russia. The reason is again along with the similar lies- the device runs Android One OS in these regions and hence is slated for two OS upgrades (Android 10, and 11). This is the official statement from Motorola regarding the same:
Motorola one action launched on the Android One platform only in Latin America and Europe, excluding Russia and received OS upgrades to Android 10 and will receive Android 11. Motorola one actions sold in the United States & Canada are not part of the Android One Platform and will not receive Android 11.
There is one interesting omission from the above note. They haven’t disclosed anything about the Asian countries. Considering the fact that the device is quite popular in countries like India, many users might have a hard time digesting this news. However, since Motorola One Action was launched with Android One out of the box in India, hence it should get the latest Android 11 update in this country.

What About Moto G8 Plus Android 11 Update?
Well, the OEM keeps on throwing surprise after surprise with its recent update revelation. As could be seen from the above list of eligible devices, Moto G8 Plus is a surprise omission from this list. Now there are two sides to this news. On one hand, the device was launched with Android 9.0 out of the box.
Since it isn’t a part of Android One, it was only slated for a single OS upgrade, which it got in the form of Android 10. So there shouldn’t be any queries in this regard, or should there be? What seems to confuse quite a lot of users is how come other members of this family are getting blessed with the latest update. In other words, why Moto G8 and Moto G8 Power are getting the Android 11 update whereas Moto G8 Plus is not?
So here is the thing. Moto G8 was released in the month of March 2020, a good four-five months after the launch of Android 10. As a result, it came with Android 10 out of the box. Along the same lines, Moto G8 Power was released in March 2020 and was also running Android 10 out of the box. Since Motorola provides one software update, both the Moto G8 and Moto G8 Power are slated to get the Android 11 update.
On the other hand, Moto G8 Plus was released in October 2019, around the time Android 10 just made its way. So the device was launched with Android 9.0 Pie out of the box. Over the due course of time, the device was blessed with Android 10 and this is where its journey came to a halt. We hope this might have cleared all the smokes surrounding the Android 11 update (or lack of) for Moto G8, Moto G8 Power, and Moto G8 Plus.
