Download GCam Google Camera Port for OnePlus Open

From this guide, you could download the Google Camera Port, more popularly known as Gcam for your OnePlus Open. There’s always a relative degree of uncertainty involved when an OEM decides to step into unchartered territory. And when that territory turns out to be foldable devices, then the apprehension turns more into concern [the fact that the domain is being ruled by the likes of Samsung and Google only makes the matter worse].

However, OnePlus put all those doubts to rest by launching probably the best foldable device to date, well, at least from the hardware point of view. While the underlying OS skin might not be the best out there, but it’s quite well-optimized for this device type. Then if we turn our attention toward its specs sheet, it beholds quite an impressive set of numbers to show. Likewise, its triple-lens Hasselblad front camera coupled with a dual rear camera is quite decent [when compared with its competitors].

Granted it’s the first iteration, but still, “decent” might not be the word one would like to hear after spending such a truckload of bucks on this device. Fortunately, you do have a handy escape route. By installing the GCam/Google Camera Port on your OnePlus Open, you could easily enhance its camera quality a couple of notches higher and get the best out of it. So without any further delay, let’s get started.

While some GCam have built-in configuration settings, the majority of the others have a standalone configuration XML file which needs to be imported manually. So if that is the case with your GCam port as well, then here’s how you could get this job done:

  1. First off, download and place the XML Config to your device’s Internal Storage [not inside any folder].
  2. Then download and install the Google Camera app onto your device just as you install any other APK.config xml gcam oneplus open
  3. Now launch GCam and double tap on empty space between the shutter button and the preview of the last taken photo.
  4. A pop-up menu will now appear, select the desired XML and tap on Load XML/Import.

Tips to Get the Best out of your GCam for OnePlus Open

  • To prevent the 3x from crashing after installation, go into Lens settings for the 3x and change the Resolution Fix to HEIC.
