Downgrade Huawei from EMUI 12 To EMUI 10 [and Install GMS]

In this guide, we will show you the steps to downgrade your Huawei device from EMUI 12 to EMUI 10 and install the GMS [Google Mobile Services]. The twelfth iteration of the underlying OS skin from Huawei brings in quite a few UI tweaks and under-the-hood changes. However, for some users, its UI/UX isn’t in sync with their requirements.

If you also echo the same thought process, then this guide will show you the steps to carry out a downgrade from EMUI 12 to EMUI 10. Likewise, we will also list out the steps to install the GMS on your device. So without any further ado, let’s get started.

The below process will wipe off all the data from your device, so please take a complete device backup beforehand. Droidwin and its members wouldn’t be held responsible in case of a thermonuclear war, your alarm doesn’t wake you up, or if anything happens to your device and data by performing the below steps.

STEP 1: Download the Required Files

Here are all the files that will come in handy in this downgrade process.

STEP 2: Downgrade to EMUI 11.0.0.260

  1. To begin with, download HiSuite 11.0.0.610
  2. Then set it up, plug your phone in, and do the process
  3. Now tap on Check for updates and wait for a few seconds.
  4. You should now get the option to rollback to EMUI 11.0.0.260.
  5. Select it and your device will be downgraded to EMUI 11.0.0.260.

STEP 3: Downgrade to EMUI 11.0.0.230

Next up, we will now have to downgrade from EMUI 11.0.0.260 to EMUI 11.0.0.230 (while the Dload file attached is for C432, it has been tested to work with all CXXX codes).

  1. Download the Dload above from the Downloads section.
  2. Once downloaded, open the file and go to Software, you should see a folder named dload.
  3. Then copy the file and paste it onto your OTG flash drive.
  4. Now plug in the OTG to your phone with the dload file.
  5. Then go to the dialer app and type in “*#*#2846579*#*#*”,
  6. Now go to Software Upgrade > Memory card upgrade > press yes and wait for the downgrade.

STEP 4: Downgrade from EMUI 11.0.0.230 to EMUI 10.1.0

  1. First off, install HiSuite 11.0.0.530 (Uninstall the old HiSuite 11.0.0.610),
  2. Then plug in your phone and do the process.
  3. once HiSuite is installed on the phone, uninstall HiSuite 11.0.0.530 [only] from your PC.
  4. Then download HiSuite 10.1.0.550 and HiSuite Proxy 2.4.0 from the Downloads section.
  5. Then go to https://professorjtj.github.io and then go on your phone,
  6. Open the dialer app and type in “*#*#2846579*#*#”.
  7. Then go to veneer information and Version Info, then scroll to the end until you see Base, Cust, And Preload Software Version.
  8. In the CUST section, take the first 2 codes EX:/ELS-NXX, and paste them into the website as phone model.
  9. Then in the same CUST section, in the brackets (CXXX) copy it and paste it on the website Region (CXXX),
  10. Keep in mind all these website data should be entered on the PC and not on your phone.
  11. Once done, open HiSuite Proxy and go back to the website, then find the CUST and Preload file.
  12. As for the base, make sure the version is between 10.1.0.130-10.1.0.135, and press Add ROM for all 3 files.
  13. Once added go back to HiSuite Proxy press Roll Back and then press Setup
  14. Now wait for the process to complete. Once done close the Command Prompt tab but not HiSuite Proxy.
  15. Open HiSuite and plug the phone in. Then write the code, tap on check for update, and wait.
  16. Once done, tap on Switch to an older version and check if the version is between 10.1.0.130-10.1.0.135,
  17. If it is so, then downgrade it and wait for the downgrade to finish.

STEP 5: Install Google Apps and Services

  1. To begin with, download and extract the APK Bundle to the phone
  2. Then go into that folder, copy the folder named “Backup” and paste it into a folder named “Huawei”
  3. Now go to Settings > System & Updates > Date and Time > set it to Manual. Change the date to 2015 (any day and month will do)
  4. Then go to Settings > Apps > Apps and then press on the 4 dotted squares on the top right
  5. Now select Show System Process and search for “Backup”. Then uninstall it.
  6. After that, go back to the APK bundle folder and install the backup APK provided.
  7. Once downloaded, go to Settings > System & Update > Backup & Restore.
  8. Now press on the 4 dotted squares on the top right and press Restore from internal storage
  9. It should be one file, that’s an app then press restore, the password is “ictfix1net’.
  10. Now go to the app downloaded on the phone and press the big blue button on the bottom.
  11. Then tap on Activate and press the blue button again, make sure that everything is starting to load
  12. Once everything starts to load, go back to Settings > System & Updates > Sate and time > set it back to Automatic.
  13. Now go back to the APK bundle, install MicroG Huawei, and open it.
  14. Then tap on Add Account and add your Google account.
  15. Once added, go back to the APK Bundle and install every app numbered from 2-6 (do not install GMS as of now).
  16. Once installed, go and uninstall MicroG Huawei. Then go to Settings > User & Accounts and select your Google Account to start the sync.
  17. Now go back to the APK Bundle folder and install GMS.apk (only install GMS, which is numbered 7). Once downloaded, open Google Play and check if it works.
  18. Then go to Settings > Apps > Apps > 4 dotted squares on the top right > tap on Show System Process.
  19. Now Force Stop and Delete Data of the following three apps: Google Account Manager, Google Play Games, and Google Service Framework. Then restart your device.
  20. Then go back to the APK Bundle folder and install GMS Notification Fix.apk (only this app, which is numbered 8).
  21. Once done, delete the data and force stop Google Account Manager, Google Play Games, and Google Service Framework. Then restart your device.
  22. Then go back to the APK Bundle folder and install GMS Play Protect Certified Fix.apk. once downloaded go to Google Play and search for any app.
  23. If no results show go back to Settings > Apps > Apps and search for “Google Play Store”. Then Force Stop it and Delete its Data, it should now work.
