OnePlus 12 Stop charging at 80% not working on wireless charging

Whether we admit it or not, it has happened to many of us- having plugged in our devices for charging but then forgetting to remove it even after it has reached the 100% mark. While doing so once or twice wouldn’t be of much concern, but if happens on a regular basis, then it would have a negative impact on the overall battery life. To combat this situation, OEMs have adopted numerous types of battery protection measures.

One such method involves choosing between two different charging cycles- adaptive and ‘stop’. The former one will learn from your device usage habits and slow down the charging speed accordingly whereas the latter one will altogether stop the charging once it reaches a specific percentage. In the case of OnePlus, that percentage is 80. However, as of late, this feature is not working along the expected lines.

OnePlus 12 Stop charging at 80%

Numerous OnePlus 12 users have voiced their concern that the charging does not stop at 80% when being charged wirelessly. This issue is happening with the official 50-watt wireless charger and has been going on ever since day 1 of this device, in other words, right out of the box. Bugs and issues are usually a common phenomenon when a device is just recently released and the OEM is also usually quick to roll out a subsequent patch to iron out all those underlying issues.

So let’s just keep our fingers crossed and hope that OnePlus also follows the same tradition because it is definitely giving quite a tough time to the end users. With that said, we will be keeping a close watch on this and will update this post accordingly as and when there is any further development. So stay tuned.
