The smartphone market is currently going through cut-throat competition, with a slew of devices from numerous OEMs offering exceptional products at a price that wouldn’t burn a hole in your pockets. So to step into such a competitive domain with a product that is testing the waters was quite a bold move from Nothing.

Fast forward a year later, we could now easily say that the gamble did indeed pay off. With that said, the OEM releases its devices in selected regions only, whether it’s due to logistic reasons or simply to build up more hype in those regions is anyone’s guess. However, even if the device isn’t officially sold in your country, you could still get hold of it by purchasing it from numerous third-party sites or exporting it from one of the supported countries.

NOTE: There’s just one requirement that your device needs to checkmark beforehand- the bootloader should be unlocked OR at least the OEM Unlocking toggle needs to be enabled. If that’s well and good, then let’s get started.

  1. To begin with, boot your device to Fastboot Mode via the hardware key combination.
  2. Then unlock the bootloader on your device [OEM Unlock toggle needs to be enabled]
    fastboot flashing unlock
  3. After that, install a custom recovery like TWRP or OrangeFox.
  4. Now download and transfer the Magisk ZIP file to your device. Then flash it via recovery.
  5. Then download the SIM bypass module on your device and flash it via the recovery too.
  6. Once done, go to Reboot > System. You’ll now get a USB Debugging permission, hit Grant.Bypass Indian SIM Card Lock on Nothing Phone 2
  7. Then download and extract Android SDK Platform Tools on your PC.
  8. Then transfer the Magisk APK file to the platform-tools folder.
  9. Now type the below command to install the Magisk app:
    adb install Magisk.apk
  10. Then type in cmd in the folder’s address bar and hit Enter. This will launch the Command Prompt.
  11. Now type in the following four commands [after the su command, you might get a SuperUser prompt, tap Allow].
    adb shell
    su
    settings put secure user_setup_complete 1
    reboot
  12. Your device will now boot to the OS with the SIM Lock requirement no longer needed.
  13. NOTE: Removing the module or even root will have no impact on this tweak but resetting the device will remove it, in which case, you’ll have to re-apply this workaround.
