Choose SIM for this call greyed out when connected to car [Fix]

Numerous users prefer to simply connect their device to their car via Bluetooth, instead of opting for Android Auto. However, those set of users have now voiced their concern that the” Choose SIM for this call” option is greyed out when the device is connected to a car. When they try to call someone from their car, then earlier a pop-up used to come up that would ask them to select a SIM card via which they want to place that all.

Unfortunately, that pop-up is now greyed out. The issue doesn’t appear if they call someone from their phone or if they opt for the Android Auto method, as in both these cases, they could easily choose the desired SIM. So this begs the all-important question- is there a fix? Well, there does exist a nifty workaround that should help you rectify this issue. So without further ado, let’s check it out.

The culprit behind this issue is the latest update rolled out to Google for its Phone/Dialer app. So to rectify it, you just have to downgrade the app to its older version, which could be done as follows:

  1. First off, head over to the Play Store and search Google Phone.
  2. Then tap on the overflow icon and uncheck Enable Auto Update.
  3. Now go to Settings > Apps > See All Apps > Phone.
  4. Then tap on the overflow icon and select Uninstall Updates > OK.Choose SIM for this call

That’s it. The Dialer app will now be downgraded and this should fix the issue of the ” Choose SIM for this call” option being greyed out when the device is connected to a car. As far as the official stance on this matter is concerned, the developers are aware of this issue, but they haven’t given out any ETA for the rollout of a fix. As and when that happens, we will update this guide accordingly. In the meantime, the aforementioned workarounds are your best bet.
