Blurry Screen on Pixel 6A/6/Pro on Android 13 [Fixed]

In this guide, we will show you a couple of methods to fix the blurry screen issue on Pixel 6A/6/Pro after the Android 13 update. The thirteenth iteration of the OS was a much-needed update for the Pixel series after a disastrous first year it had with Android 12. But even though it has managed to iron out most of the underlying bugs, a few new ones have managed to creep in as well.

In this regard, a few users have voiced their concern that they are witnessing blurry screens on their Pixel 6A/6/Pro after installing the latest Android 13 update. In my personal experience, this issue is mostly imminent as soon as I unlock the device and it stays there for around 3-4 seconds, however, it does not happen upon every unlock of the device [it follows a random trajectory].

Not only does it result in an infuriating user experience but could also prove to be quite fateful in emergency situations. With that said there does exist a couple of nifty workarounds that should help you quickly mitigate this issue. So without further ado, let’s check them out.

It is recommended that you try out each of the below-mentioned workarounds and then see which one spells out success for you. So with that in mind, let’s get started.

FIX 1: Toggle Screen

The easiest way of dealing with this issue is to re-lock your device and then unlock it via the Power key. This will straightaway remove the blur from the screen.

FIX 2: Restart Device

For some users, toggling the screen didn’t spell out success and they instead had to restart their device. So long press the power key, select Restart, and wait for the device to reboot. Once it boots, it should fix the underlying issue.

FIX 3: Remove Animations

Since this bug emulates itself when the device is unlocked, it could be due to the new unlock/relock animation added by Google [that happens near the Power key]. Therefore, you should consider disabling all these animations using the below-listed steps and then check out the results.

  1. Head over to Settings > Accessibility > Color and Motion.
  2. Then enable the toggle next to Remove Animations.
  3. Check if it fixes the blurry screen issues on Pixel 6A/6/Pro.blurry screen pixel 6 pro

FIX 4: Downgrade to Android 12

As you might have noticed, while the first two workarounds will allow you to fix the blurry screen issue on Pixel 6A/6/Pro once it has occurred, it doesn’t do anything to prevent it from happening again. So, your only course of action is to downgrade to Android 12 [if Fix 3 doesn’t work out either]. However, before you opt to do so, keep in mind that the process requires an unlocked bootloader which will reset your device and could nullify its warranty.

For many, this might be a hefty price to pay in order to get this temporary issue rectified. But if you don’t share the same opinion and wish to bid adieu to this bug right away, then you may refer to any of these two guides to perform this downgrade right away: How to Downgrade Pixel Devices via Android Flash Tool OR How to Downgrade Pixel Devices via Fastboot Commands.

That’s it. These were the three different methods to fix the blurry screen issue on Pixel 6A/6/Pro after the Android 13 update. As far as the official stance on this matter is concerned, the developers are aware of this issue, but they haven’t given out any ETA for the rollout of a fix. As and when that happens, we will update this guide accordingly. In the meantime, the aforementioned workarounds are your best bet.
