When it comes to the tablet domain, then Xioami is making its presence felt with some impressive offers. One among which is the sixth iteration in its popular Pad lineup. With a 144Hz, HDR10, and 11-inch screen, you are bound to get quite an immersive viewing experience. Or so we thought. Numerous users have voiced their concern about the WideVine DRM bug wherein the System ID is showing as 0 on their Xiaomi Pad 6.
As a result of which, they could only stream contents up to a maximum resolution of 480p. While in most cases, the WideVine Certification has also degraded to L3, in rare instances, the Certification is still L1 which is quite astonishing, to say the least. So all the apps that behold DRM-protected content [Netflic, Hulu, and Amazon Prime] are bugged with this issue, with YouTube being the sole survivor.
Apart from that, some users are also reportedly getting error messages along the lines of {Device Failure Error:500,-172} and {App restart require Error: 503,-172}. So all this begs an important question- is there a fix?
Fix Xiaomi Pad 6 WideVine DRM Bug: System ID 0?
Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be any workaround that is spelling out success. However, there’s an interesting thing to note- the users who purchased this tablet had the firmware version 14.0.1.0 installed and in that version, the issue seems to be absent. But the catch here is that the firmware version is nowhere to be found! Even if you stumble upon one, it is not recommended to carry out the downgrade due to the Anti Rollback Mechanism put in place by Xiaomi.
Moreover, at the time of writing, version 14.0.6.0 is being rolled out, however, it isn’t concrete enough to suggest that this build has rectified the WideVine DRM Bug: System ID 0 on Xiaomi Pad 6. As far as the official stance on this matter is concerned, the developers are aware of this issue, but they haven’t given out any ETA for the rollout of a fix. As and when that happens, we will update this guide accordingly. Stay tuned!
