Remove App Permissions not working on Nothing Phone 2

The newest addition to the Nothing family has grabbed the attention of the masses, thanks in large part to its revamped Glyph interface. However, it is still in its infancy stage, and as is the case with every such device, it too has its fair share of issues. From inconsistent audio to AOD not working and issues with Expert Mode, there are already quite a few issues bugging this device. And now, there has been another unwanted entry to this list.

Remove App Permissions not working on Nothing Phone 2

Numerous users have voiced their concern that the Remove App Permissions feature is not working on their Nothing Phone 2. Titled ‘Pause app activity if unused’, this feature will automatically remove all the permissions from an app if it has been unused for a certain time period [maybe around 90 days]. However, with this device, this permission only lasts for a day or two, and then all the app permissions get reset or removed.

As a result of this, users then have to re-approve or deny all the permission whenever they launch an app. For instance, users are having to give storage access and the ability to install APKs from unknown sources to File Explorer every other day. Some users have also created a few automated tasks via MacroDroid and Tasker which ask for a plethora of permission but due to this bug, all these tasks stop working.

Another thing that we have noticed is the fact that this issue is also affecting App Locker’s locked apps feature, so all the apps that users had hidden are now there for everyone to see, which could prove to be a major privacy scare. So this begs the all-important question- is there a fix? Well, as of now, there isn’t any workaround that could spell out success for you.

Moroever, there are only a handful of Nothing Phone 2 users who are facing this issue, so it might not be on the top of the priority queue for the OEM bug-quashing list. As a result of this, we would suggest you file a bug report with Nothing so that they are made aware of the same and act upon it at the earliest. As and when that happens, we will update this post accordingly.
