Pixel Users are reporting false notification alerts!

The devices from Silicon Valley are usually the go-to choices for users if they are looking for a clean stock usage experience with the fastest OS updates and the best-in-class camera. However, in spite of this long list of goodies, there are still a few issues that need addressing. Primary among them are overheating, excessive battery drainage, and frequent loss in network connectivity due to the poor modem [thanks Tensor].

Pixel Users are reporting false notification alerts!

Apart from that, there are also a few minor issues that even though wouldn’t be in the limelight much, but are enough to cause a nuisance for the end users. One among them is the false notification alerts that some Pixel users are reporting for the past few months. This results in quite an infuriating experience as one has to pick up the device to check out what that alert was all about only to find out there was no prompt in the first place!

To further verify that these are ghost notifications, users checked their notification history [Settings > Notification >Notification History] only to find out that there were infact no alerts. The fact that many apps use the same default system notification tones only makes the matter worse. Moreover, this issue only seems to be getting worse with subsequent OTA updates and seems to be there across the Android 13 stable as well as the Android 14 Beta build.

However, the subset of Pixel users who are facing the false notification alerts issue is quite small, hence this could be one reason why this bug isn’t being discussed enough. Are you among that tiny minority? Then do make your voices heard in the comments section below and let’s make this issue reach the masses and ultimately the developers so that it gets patched in the subsequent updates.
