iPhone automatically restarts overnight for many [iOS 17]

We have come across quite a few bugs and issues in our daily coverage of the iPhones and their underlying OS. While most of them are quashed pretty quickly, some do end up taking an extendable time frame, but they are subsequently ironed out as well. However, there has been a rather strange issue going on for over 5 years with no official confirmation from the Cupertino giant!

iPhone automatically tends to restart overnight for many

Numerous users have voiced their concern that their iPhones tend to undergo a reboot suddenly overnight. We have seen issues starting all the way from the iPhone 7 to the latest 14 Pro, encompassing numerous iOS builds, including the latest iOS 17. The only common factor in all these issues is the fact that the reboot tends to happen between 2-3 AM at night, which makes the matter all the more intriguing.

This issue hasn’t impacted the majority of the users and only appears once or twice a week. And that is the sole reason why it hasn’t been able to gather as much spotlight as it should. With that said, how could a user verify if their device underwent a random restart?

How to Verify This Claim?

Well, there are quite a few ways of doing so- the most basic among them is the fact that when they unlock their device for the first time in the morning, it asks for their password, even though the face unlock is already set up [for the unaware, this only happens after a reboot].

Apart from that, you could also verify that your iPhone has automatically restarted overnight by having a look at the battery chart or via a third-party app Status Lite, which would even give you the exact time during which the event occurred. Techn geeks could go through the logs and check out the System Memory Reset which would signify that the event would usually take place between 2-3 AM, all of which further cements our claim.

How to Fix This Bug?

So this then begs the all-important question- is there a fix? Well, as told before, let alone a fix, there doesn’t seem to be any official acknowledgment yet. The farthest this bug has reached is being addressed by the Apple Forum Support Staff with their same old generic reason that hardly ever comes in handy.

UPDATE: iPhones Again Randomly Restarted for many!

Lately, it seems that these random reboots have become a habit of sorts. Numerous iPhones have again reported that their devices underwent a random restart in the middle of the night. And if this wasn’t strange enough, most of the affected users have additionally reported that their device was switched off for an exact period of 4 hours [evident via the battery charging graph]. This has happened across numerous iPhone variants, each running the latest iOS 17 build.

    Hi
I have this problem since updating to iOS17 on my iPhone13Pro
Automatic update is turned off, but it seems like it doesn’t care.
It’s annoing, no getting urgent calls or messeges before you unlock the phone
