In this regard, one of the most noticeable changes has been made to the functionality of its store which is probably interacted with the most. Yes, we are talking about none other than its search feature. For ages, the search icon used to silently sit on the top menu bar and we have been accustomed to it. However, it has now been shifted all the way to the bottom and has been assigned a separate dedicated tab.

Making matters worse is the fact that this tab doesn’t behold anything useful either. Instead, it’s flooded with tons of suggestions and recommendations that, again, no one had asked for. To get this job down, you just need to downgrade the Play Store to its earlier stable build. Here’s how it could be done:

  1. Head over to Settings > Apps > All Apps > Google Play Store.
  2. Then tap on the overflow icon situated at the top right.search top play store
  3. Now select Uninstall Updates > OK in the prompt that offers.
  4. Then launch Play Store and the search icon will be back at the top.

That’s it. These were the steps to send the search icon back to the top in the Play Store. One major [and perhaps the only] benefit of this tweak is the fact that users with large-screen devices will be able to easily reach this option now.
