Cannot Scrub Through Video using Full Screen in iOS 17 [Bug]

Many users have voiced their concern that they could no longer scrub through the videos using the full screen on their iPhones running the latest iOS 17 build. In general terms, scrubbing refers to the ability to quickly navigate through a video by dragging a slider or timeline bar. However, Apple took it a step ahead [and for good] and allowed the users to perform he scrubbing directly from the screen itself.

However, this functionality has since been removed in the latest iteration of iOS. As a result of this, you could now only use the progress bar to forward or rewind the video being played, which according to many users is a rather cumbersome and cumbersome and imprecise way of getting the job done. However, this then brings us to the elephant in the room- is this a bug or an intended change from the Cupertino giant? Well, as of now, many factors point it to be the former case.

Cannot Scrub Through Video using Full Screen in iOS 17

First off, the OS is currently in a beta stage, so a few bugs and issues are usually along the expected lines. To further cement the fact, this exact same issue was reported in the iOS 16 beta builds as well, which was ultimately decided in the stable version. Moroever, there does seem to be any logical explanation or reasoning as to why Apple would end up removing such an important functionality all of a sudden.

All in all, we are keeping our fingers crossed and just hope that the inability to scrub through the videos using the full screen on iOS 17 is just one of those issues that would soon be ironed out in the stable release. Because if that doesn’t happen, then it will surely infuriate the masses, which would surely be justified.

What are your views on the same? Would the removal of this feature impact you or you are already used to the progress bar hence it wouldn’t be a cause for any concern. Do drop in your valuable opinions in the comments section below.

  • I accidentally scrub in full screen and find it annoying. Granted, I watch very little video on my phone and only a little on my iPad, so it’s not a common occurrence. However, my son has issues with fine motor control and holds the iPad in such a way that it often starts scrubbing by accident. It’s then very difficult to get back to where the video was. I would very much appreciate a setting to turn off scrubbing from full screen.
