Roku Showing Spanish Ads while streaming in English [Fix]

In this guide, we will show you a couple of handy workarounds that might help you fix the issue of Roku showing Spanish ads while you are streaming in English. Offering digital media players for video streaming and having an ad-supported video-on-demand service, Roku seems to have checkmarked both the hardware and software prerequisites in this domain with ease. However, it tends to hit a roadblock every now and then. And as of now, it is facing a rather weird issue.

Roku Showing Spanish Ads

Numerous users have voiced their concern that they are mostly Spanish ads while streaming English content on Roku. While some might argue that one doesn’t even pay any attention to the commercials in the first place, but still, that’s not a valid justification for the same. Whatever content you are being shown should be in sync with your region and language, whether it’s just an ad or a TV series. Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be the case here.

To make matters worse, this problem has been going on for months but is yet to be addressed. With that said, there does exist a couple of nifty workarounds that might help you resolve this issue. So without further ado, let’s check them out.

Fix Roku Showing Spanish Ads while streaming in English

Roku Showing Spanish Ads

It is recommended that you try out each of the below-mentioned workarounds and then see which one spells out success. So with that in mind, let’s get started.

FIX 1: Refresh Roku Language Settings

First and foremost, head over to the Roku website and make sure that your preferred language is set to English. If that is not the case, then do so right away. On the other hand, if it is already English, then change it to any other language, wait for a minute or two, and then switch back to English.

FIX 2: Change Region

Next up, you should also change your region to a location where English is a primary language, such as US or UK. So do so from the Roku website and check if it fixes the issue of Roku showing Spanish ads while you are streaming in English.

FIX 3: Enable Personalized Ads

As is evident from its name, personalized ads are based on your online activities, including the likes of search history and the content that you have watched. Since you are only watching English content, it is recommended that you enable this setting so that you will only get targeted ads for this region which in turn means that the commercials would be in the English language.

To do so, head over to Roku Settings > Privacy > Advertising > turn off Limit Ad Tracking. However, do note that while we have implemented these settings in Roku, some third-party content providers [such as Netflix] might override this with their own rules, though how much control these service providers have over Roku is still unknown.

That’s it. These were the three different methods that might help you fix the issue of Roku showing Spanish ads while you are streaming in English. As far as the official stance on this matter is concerned, the developers are yet to acknowledge this issue, let alone give out any ETA for the rollout of a fix. As and when any of these two things happen, we will update this guide accordingly. In the meantime, the aforementioned workarounds are your best bet.
