How to Hide the VPN Key Icon from the Status Bar on Android
- First off, install and setup Shizuku on your device so that the app gets wireless ADB access [if your device is rooted, then you may skip this step].
- Then download and install the System UI Tuner app from Play Store [GitHub].
- Now launch it and go through the on-screen tips until you reach the Grant Write Secure Settings. On that screen, tap Grant.
- If you’re using Shizuku, then you’ll get a prompt from it, tap Allow. For rooted devices, they will get a SuperUser prompt, tap Grant.
- Once done, perform a left swipe on your screen to move to the next steps. You may skip the rest of the permissions for now.
- Now tap on the Interaction to expand it and select Status Bar. Then select Icon Blacklist and expand the General section.
- Finally, just disable the toggle next to VPN and the icon will be hidden for good.
