Galaxy S24 Ultra Display Issues: Grey Lines on Screen!

The South Korean conglomerate has recently launched its latest flagship with a top-of-the-end specs sheet, an impressive camera, and tons of nifty AI features. Although it does cost around $1300, however, many YouTubers and tech reviewers were fast enough to justify this hefty price and call it the best device to date. However, it seems most of these reviews are either paid or done in hast without much testing.

Galaxy S24 Ultra Display Issues: Grey Lines on Screen!

This is because, within a couple of days of its launch, a plethora of reports are all lined up across various forums such as Reddit [1,2,3] wherein users have voiced their concern about the display issues on their Galaxy S24 Ultra with persistent grey lines on their screen. Apart from that, dead pixels and green halos are also visible.

The entire display looks grainy as if there is sand underneath it. Not to mention the fact that the viewing angles are also terrible. Almost looks like a burn-in or dirty screen effect. So how to be sure if your device is affected by this issue or not?

How to Check for Grey Lines on Galaxy S24 Ultra

There are quite a few ways through which you could verify if your Galaxy S24 Ultra display is facing the grey lines issues on the screen or not, namely:

  • Use the hidden test menu by typing in *#0*#0 in the dialer.
  • Or go to a completely dark room with the device brightness set to low. Then install the Display Tester app and select Defective Pixel Detection, scroll until you get to the Grey Color, and perform the test.
  • Apart from that, you could also head over to testmyscreen.com -> Solid colors, and press once or twice until you get to the grey color.

Once you are in a dark environment, you’ll be able to witness the grey lines on the screen, quite similar [or even worse] to how a display of $300 would look like. It’s quite a sad state of affairs that users are having to shell out such hefty bucks and in return are getting such unfinished and untested products with such a major flaw. As of now, let’s just hope that it’s a software bug that could be rectified via a subsequent OTA and not a hardware defect.

Because if it turns out to be the latter, then there’s definitely going to be some major dents in Samsung’s reputation, not to mention the inconvenience that users would have to go through. Anyways, whatever will be the case, we will keep you updated via this post, so make sure to keep a tab on the same at regular intervals.
