How to Disable Dual SIM Dual Standby on Pixel Devices

In this guide, we will show you the steps to disable the Dual SIM Dual Standby on your Pixel device. From Dual SIM to Dual SIM standby to Dual SIM active and now finally to Dual SIM Dual Standby, this technological domain has really picked up the pace in the last few years. If we talk about DSDS, then it allows both the SIM cards to remain active a the same time, you no longer have to manually disable one so as to use the other.

Another major benefit is the fact that it uses only one radio transceiver for both SIM cards. As a result, you are saving on space and cost, and it might also result in less strain on the battery. However, in the past couple of years, users are gradually shifting over to e-SIM- aka the programmable card that is embedded directly onto the device, thereby negating the need for a physical SIM card.

Upon having an interaction with a handful of users [who are only using e-SIM or e-SIM and a physical SIM], they told me that they had a significant battery boost after disabling the Dual SIM Dual Standby [DSDS] feature on their Pixel device. So it’s time to put this tweak to the test and check out the results. Follow along.

How to Disable Dual SIM Dual Standby on Pixel Devices

Disable Dual SIM Dual Standby

Before starting the steps, we would suggest you keep a note of the battery drain percentage loss when the screen is turned off [as we will then have first-hand data to compare with later on]. You could do the same from Settings > Battery > Battery Usage. Once done, you may then proceed with the below steps to disable the Dual SIM Dual Standby on your Pixel device.

  1. Bring up the Dialer and type in the below command
    *#*#4636#*#*
  2. Then select Phone Information from the list.
  3. After that, disable the toggle next to DSDS.

Now take the battery usage data for a day or two and compare it with the earlier recorded data. According to a few users, they did manage to save 0.7% battery per hour after disabling the Dual SIM Dual Standby on their Pixel device. However, this shouldn’t be taken as a yardstick as the result may differ for each one of you. So did notice any significant gain in battery or was it negligible?
