Pets not showing in People Album on iOS 17: How to Fix

In this guide, we will show you various methods to fix the issue of Pets not showing in People Album on iOS 17. With the seventeenth iteration of the OS, there is a plenitude of new and noteworthy features to the fore. While we have already covered most of them in our previous coverage, this time around our focus will be on the Photos app. In the latest OS build, it seems that the Cupertino giant has finally admitted that pets are family too!

To be more specific, starting with iOS 17, the Photos app can now recognize your pets and add them to your “People & Pets” album [which was earlier known as the “People” album]. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case with some users. According to them, the app on their device is still named “People & Places” and the app simply displays the “Finding People…” message with no progress whatsoever. If you are also facing a similar issue, then this guide will help you out.

It is recommended that you try out each of the below-mentioned workarounds and then see which one spells out success. So with that in mind, let’s get started.

Give it Time

It’s no hidden secret that your gallery is filled with a plethora of cat and dog images, so your device is dealing with quite a truckload of images. To make sure that all of them are synced to the album, you should give them a considerable time frame. In this regard, many users plug in their devices in a charging state for a couple of nights, and then the process gets completed [so consider it a couple of long overnight journeys].

Manually Add Images [If Dealing with few Images]

Apart from that, you could also manually add pets to the Photos app, but that would only come in handy if we are dealing with a couple of images. With such a plentitude of images at stake, using the manual approach is neither the most feasible or nor the most viable approach to get this job done.

Reset People & Pet Suggestions

Last but not least, there’s also an option to “Reset People & Pet Suggestions” in the Settings menu. However, it’s generally not recommended to opt for it as it will then remove all the indexing that the Photos app has done to date. Instead, opt for the first fix and leave your device in the charging state for a couple of nights. But if that doesn’t spell out success, then you may try doing a reset as a last-ditch effort.

That’s it. These were the various methods that might help you fix the issue of Pets not showing in People Album on iOS 17. If you have any queries concerning the aforementioned steps, do let us know in the comments. We will get back to you with a solution at the earliest.

I downloaded IOS 17.1. The album still says people and places. Does not include the word pets.
