The culprit behind this issue is the latest update rolled out to the Google App. So to rectify it, you will have to downgrade the app to its earlier version. Here’s how it could be done:

  1. Head over to Settings > Apps > See All Apps and select Google App from the list
  2. Then scroll to the end and tap on App Details. You will be taken to the Play Store.
  3. Tap on the overflow icon situated at the top right and uncheck Enable Auto-update.
  4. Now go back to the Google App page and tap on the overflow icon situated at the top right.

  6. Once done, invoke or start Assistant. This time you will be able to set a timer or reminder without any issues.
