Pixel 8 Pro Pink Color Text in Always on Display comes to light

The newest addition to the Pixel family beholds a slew of intriguing goodies, with the likes of the improved camera, AI integration, G3 chipset, and mammoth 7-year OS upgrades being the talk of the town. On the flip side though, it has also been affected with a few bugs. Talking about which, the latest one seems to be among the most concerning ones because it’s directly impacting the device’s display.

To give more content, numerous users have voiced their concern that they are witnessing pink color text in the Always On Display on their Pixel 8/Pro. The issue only impacts a section of the screen, usually the top or the sides. Moreover, it is mostly or rather only visible under low light conditions. And as soon as the device is woken up aka AOD is dismissed, the pink colors are gone as well. So all this begs a couple of important questions.

Software Bug or Hardware Failure?

First off, whether it’s a software side bug or a hardware failure? Well, we had seen similar issues in the past with Pixel 6 Pro and even the OnePlus 7 series and the bug in both these devices turned out to be released to software. The OEM subsequently released a patch that ironed out this issue.

Moreover, even if we talk about the Pixel 8 Pro, if it had been a hardware issue, then the oink color would have been visible even when the display was lit up, i.e. under normal use case scenarios. Since that is not the case, we could cement the fact that it could very well be a software-related bug.

Is there a Fix?

So this then brings us to our second question- what about its fix? Well, since it is a software side issue, the Silicon Valley giant would sooner than later release an update that would accompany this fix. However, Google isn’t known to be the best listener, so you might have to at least wait for a couple of weeks [or even more] before this issue let alone be fixed. As and when that happens, we will update this post accordingly. So stay tuned.
