How to Turn off Gboard Haptics Vibration on Android 15

In this guide, we will show you the steps to turn off the Gboard haptics vibration on your Android 15. The Silicon Valley giant has recently rolled out the fifteenth iteration of the OS and with that, there are a slew of intriguing features to look forward to. Some of the noteworthy ones include the likes of Private Space, Lock Screen widgets, Battery Health Percentage, App Archive, and Bluetooth Quick Settings menu.

On the flip side though, it does seem to have been bugged by quite a few “problems”. One among which is the inability of the users to turn off the Gboard haptics vibration on their device running the latest Android 15 build. They have already tried the basic workarounds of deleting data, force stopping, or even downgrading Gboard, but none of them spelled out success.

We were able to replicate this issue at our end as well and not only with Gboard, but the same problem seems to be persistent across other keyboard apps, including the likes of Swipe. So this all but confirmed the fact that the culprit is indeed the latest OS build instead of Gboard. With that said, if you are also facing this issue, then this guide will help you out. Follow along for the fix.

Turn off Gboard Haptics Vibration on Android 15

First and foremost, let’s address the elephant in the room- this isn’t a bug but rather an intended feature. With Android 15, Google has introduced a rather weird working mechanism for the Keyboard Vibration functionality. This option is present in the Settings menu and is enabled by default. While that’s well and good, what isn’t is the fact that it has given this feature the ability to override the keyboard app’s haptics settings.

So even if you have disabled Gboard haptics but the keyboard haptic option is enabled in the Settings menu, then the latter will take higher precedence over the former, and the overall haptics will still remain enabled. All in all, the in-app option in each keyboard app to control haptics has been nullified, which takes away a great degree of control from the end users, it’s now either all or none.

As to why Google decided to introduce this feature when each app already had its own is beyond anyone’s guess, but one shouldn’t even be surprised at this point, because the Silicon Valley giant has taken weirder decisions in the past having much greater consequences.

To round it all off, if you want to turn off Gboard Haotiucs Vibration in Gboard [or any keyboard app for that matter] in Android 15, then you’ll have to head over to Settings > Vibration & Haptics > and turn off Keyboard Vibration. As already told before, the consequences wouldn’t only be applied to Gboard but rather to all the keyboard apps installed on your device [irrepsecitve of their individual settings].
