Mac stuck on login screen after Opencore update [Fix]

In this guide, we will show you a nifty workaround to fix the issue of your Mac being stuck on the login screen after installing the Opencore update. This bootloader avoids modifying the OS stored on the boot volume and is designed specifically to work with Apple’s current security paradigm, or in simpler terms, it is used to inject and patch data in memory, instead of on disk.

Many of them have voiced their concern that their Mac is now stuck on the login screen after installing the latest Opencore update. If yo are also facing the same issue, then this guide will make you aware of a workaround that could help you resolve this bug. So without further ado, let’s check it out.

Droidwin and its members wouldn’t be held responsible in case of a thermonuclear war, your alarm doesn’t wake you up, or if anything happens to your Mac and data by performing the below steps.

  1. Your first course of action is to build a new OpenCore USB stick / Ventura Installer using the OCLP 0.6.7 builder running from another Mac [which will subsequently be used to rescue your Mac].
  2. Do note that you must select the version of the “target machine’s” version/revision from the config list in the OpenCore builder GUI.
  3. In simpler words, ensure that you chose the settings in the OpenCoreLegacyPatcher creation utility to select the model of your Mac that needs to be fixed as opposed to the Mac on which you are currently working].
  4. Once built, boot from the USB stick and run the Ventura installer. It will upgrade your existing Ventura install overrating the corrupt files. Your PC might reboot several times and the entire process might take up to 4-5 hours.
  5. Once your Mac boots up, OpenCoreLegacyPatcher will say that the boot version is 0.6.7 whereas the installed version is 0.6.5, and will ask for an update. Please do not update as it will again end up corrupting your Mac.

That’s it. These were the steps to fix the issue of your Mac being stuck on the login screen after installing the Opencore update. If you have any queries concerning the aforementioned steps, do let us know in the comments. We will get back to you with a solution at the earliest.
