To fix this bug, you will have to Reset your Google Usage ID in the YouTube app. However, before that, you will have to install a fresh build of the app from the App Store. [NOTE: if the app crashes during any stage while executing the below fix, then you will have to uninstall and reinstall the app and then restart with the fix]. 

  1. Long press the YouTube app icon and select Remove App.
  2. Then tap on Delete App > Delete.YouTube App not working on iOS 16
  3. Once deleted, go to App Store and reinstall the app.
  4. Then launch the app and go to its Settings menu.
  5. Now go to History and Privacy and tap on Reset Google Usage ID.

That’s it. This should fix the issue of the YouTube app crashing/not working on iOS 16. As far as the official stance on this matter is concerned, the developers are aware of this issue, but they haven’t given out any ETA for the rollout of a fix. As and when that happens, we will update this guide accordingly. In the meantime, the aforementioned workarounds are your best bet.
