Likewise, we also prepared a list of all the devices that are officially supported to get blessed with the 5G services. However, there was one major question being asked by numerous users- will Pixel 6/Pro/6A get 5G support in India? Let’s figure it out.
Will Google Pixel 6/Pro/6A get 5G Support in India?
While all these three devices checkmark all the hardware requirements for 5G, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that you would get 5G. The second hurdle comes in the need for a supported carrier. Fortunately, in India, Airtel and Jio have both launched their 5G services. So. this brings us to the third and final checkpoint- are these devices officially sold in India? And this is where things begin to turn for the worse.
All these three drives are 5G supported but are not 5G ready out of the box. This means that Google will first roll out an OTA update that will enable 5G on these devices. Unfortunately, that will only happen on the officially supported launches. In India, only Pixel 6A is officially launched by Google [via Flipkart], whereas the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro haven’t been officially released here [if you have bought it, then it would have been via a third-party seller on Amazon].
When it comes to Google Pixel 6A, an update is scheduled for the month of December which will add 5G support to that device. However, you should not expect the same with Pixel 6/Pro. And that’s not it. You might not able to claim the warranty from Google in case anything goes wrong with your Pixel 6/Pro [but let’s keep that discussion for some other day].
So to round it off, only Pixel 6A will get 5G support in India, whereas Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro will not get any support for 5G in India.
If you own any of these two devices, then keep your fingers crossed and hope the Silicon Valley giant gets a little bit generous this time around, although technically speaking that might not be possible. On a side note, as of now, Pixel 4A, Pixel 6A, Pixel 7, and Pixel 7 Pro are the officially supported devices from Google that are being sold in India, exclusively via Flipkart. So you could enable 5G on these devices without any issues.
Are there any workarounds to enable 5G in Pixel 6/Pro in India?
Even if your device isn’t getting blessed with 5G, there does exist a nifty workaround that might help you enable 5G on your Pixel 6/Pro in India.
