In this guide, we will let you know the reason why the SharePlay feature of FaceTime is not working in iOS 15. The latest iteration of the OS has just been made available for general users. And with that, there are a plethora of features and changes that you are likely to welcome. The new Focus Mode, redesigned Notifications, changes in the Safari Browser, Memories integration with Apple Music, and the ability to scan texts from images via the Live Text features are just some of the noteworthy ones.
Along the same lines, FaceTime has also been blessed with a slew of new features. Among them, the SharePlay feature that allows you to share your screen and watch movies or listen to songs together while on a FaceTime call is probably the most eye-catchy feature. While the beta testers might have already got a taste of this feature [in iOS 15.1/iPadOS 15.1 Beta 1], but it had a few rough edges. Hence the testers (along with the general public) were waiting in anticipation for the stable rollout of this feature alongside the iOS 15.
And while the stable OS rollout is now complete, users are still unable to use the FaceTime screen share feature in iOS 15. But why is the FaceTime SharePlay feature not working in iOS 15? Well, there’s no bug or issues surrounding this feature and its inability to function is an intentional decision made by the Cupertino giants. As surprising as it may sound, but that is indeed the case. The Apple Support Team has said that “SharePlay will be available later this fall“.
The same has explicitly been mentioned on the iOS 15 features page as well. So it is only a matter of time until you are able to get hold of this feature. With this, you would have got a decent idea as to why Facetime’s SharePlay feature is currently not working in iOS 15. As and when it gets live, we will update this post accordingly.
