In this guide, we will make you aware of the new Clear feature in the iPhone Mail app and how it differs from Trash. The Cupertino giant has recently rolled out its AI tool in the form of Apple Intelligence [surprise surprise] and with that, there are a plethora of new and noteworthy features to look forward to.
While most of them have been welcomed with open hands, there are a few that have landed in hot waters or left many users their heads scratching. One such feature is Clear which has silently crept into the iPhone Mail app. So what exactly is this feature and how does it differ from the existing Trash option? Let’s find out.
Table of Contents
What is Clear in iPhone Mail App?
“Clear” marks a mail message as not being primary — not time-critical — and otherwise doesn’t change its classification as a transaction, social update, or promotion. In other words, “Clear” removes the message from the priority list.
Mail messages are categorized (by Apple Intelligence) as a primary or time-sensitive (clock) mail message, and as news, subscriptions and social updates (speech bubble). Selecting clear reportedly removes it as being time-sensitive.
What is the Difference Between Clear and Trash in the Mail App?
On the other hand, the Trash option is pretty much self-explanatory- it sends the email to the trash from where you can permanently delete it or restore it within a stipulated time frame, if needed.
How to Remove Clear from Apple Mail
To remove this Clear option, you just need to turn off Apple Intelligence in the Mail App.
That’s it. This was all from this guide regarding the newly introduced Clear feature in the Apple Mail app. If you have any queries concerning the aforementioned steps, do let us know in the comments. We will get back to you with a solution as soon as possible.
