And now, there has been another entry to this list. Numerous users have voiced their concern that the Storage/Photos and Videos permission is missing from the Zedge app on Pixel devices running Android 13. As a result of which, users are unable to download ringtones and wallpapers directly onto their phones.

Initially, the issue was attributed to the app itself, but we tried the same version of this app on our OnePlus and were able to allow the Photos and Videos permission successfully. So the culprit isn’t the app but rather how the Pixel devices are treating apps ever since being updated to Android 13. With that said, there does exist a nifty workaround that might help you mitigate this issue. So without further ado, let’s check it out.

FIX 1: Downgrade Zedge

The culprit behind this issue is the buggy update rolled out by Zedge. So to rectify it, you should consider downgrading it to the earlier stable build, which could be done as follows:

  1. Head over to Settings > Apps > See All Apps and select Zedge from the list.
  2. Then tap on Uninstall OK in the confirmation prompt to uninstall the app.
  3. Once done, download and install its older version v7.38.7 from APK Mirror.
  4. Now open Play Store and search Zedge. Then select it from the search results.Storage Permission missing from Zedge
  5. Then tap on the overflow icon situated at the top right and uncheck Enable Auto-update.
  6. Now, go to Settings > Apps > Zedge > Permission and select Photos and Videos.
  7. Finally, select Allow > Confirm. This should fix the storage permission missing issue from the Zedge app.Storage Permission missing from Zedge

FIX 2: Using the Website Tweak

  1. To begin with, go to the Zedge website and sign in to your account.
  2. Then download the desired ringtones from there.
  3. Once done, go to Settings > Sound & Vibration > Phone Ringtone.Storage Permission missing from Zedge
  4. Then select the File Manager app, navigate to the downloaded tone, and select it. It will now be set as your ringtone.
  5. On the other hand, if you have downloaded a wallpaper, then long press on an empty location on your home screen.
  6. Then select Wallpaper and Style > Change Wallpaper.Storage Permission missing from Zedge
  7. Now tap on My Photos, choose the downloaded image, and select it. It will be set as your wallpaper.

That’s it. As of now, this is the only workaround that should help you fix the issue of the storage permission missing from the Zedge app on Pixel devices running Android 13. As far as the official stance on this matter is concerned, the developers are yet to acknowledge this issue, let alone give out any ETA for the rollout of a fix. As and when any of these two things happen, we will update this guide accordingly. In the meantime, the aforementioned workaround is your best bet.
