Root Samsung Phone Without PC using Eros Samsung Flasher

In this guide, we will show you the steps to root your Samsung device without using a PC, using the Eros Samsung Flasher. The usual approach to gain administrative privileges over a device is to just patch the boot.img/init_boot.img file via Magisk and then flash it via Fastboot Commands in the Fastboot Mode. However, things are completely different in the Samsung ecosystem. Herein you’ll have to use the patch the AP file and flash it via a third-party tool [Odin] in the Download Mode along with the rest of the files, requiring a factory reset in the process as well.

So when I made a guide and video on how you can root your device without a PC, it was along the expected lines that it wouldn’t work with Samsung devices. So I went on a hunt and found a rather intriguing open-source app known as Eros Samsung Flasher that will help you get this job done with ease. So without further ado, let’s show you how this could be carried out. Follow along.

What is Eros Samsung Flasher

The Eros Samsung Flasher is an open-source application that allows you to flash .tar and .tar.md5 files onto your Samsung device using a USB OTG device that needs to be connected to a secondary Android phone. Here are some of the noteworthy features of this tool:

  • Flash tar and tar.md5: Flash firmware files directly on a connected Samsung device via OTG.
  • Small in Size: Just 3MB!
  • No Root Required: Works without root access.

  • Download (Dump) PIT Partition: Retrieve the device’s PIT partition and save it as a file.
  • Reboot to System: Reboot the connected device back to the system.
  • MD5 Check: Checks the integrity of firmware files by verifying their MD5 checksum.
  • Userdata Erase: Forcefully recreates the device’s userdata partition, wiping its data.
  • Repartition: Recreates the device’s (modified) partitions.
  • TFlash Support: Flash firmware onto the SD card connected to the device, wiping the SD card in the process.
  • Skip MD5 Check: Optionally skip MD5 verification to speed up the flashing process.
  • AB Partition Support: Choose which partition to flash on A/B partition devices.
  • Auto Reboot Switches: Control whether the device reboots automatically after flashing.
  • Android TV Support: Eros may work on Android TVs that have the USB Host API.

Benefits and Risks of Rooting Samsung

Once you unlock the bootloader on your device, you have literally opened the floodgates to a plethora of tweaks. These include the ability to flash custom binaries, custom ROMs, a custom recovery like TWRP, and gain access to the system partition, among others.

Moreover, once you have achieved root, you can flash Magisk ModulesSubstratum ThemesLSPosed FrameworkViper4Android, and countless other mods. Likewise, flashing a custom kernel and overclocking and underclocking the GPU/CPU is also a possibility. However, there are a few risks associated with rooting your device as well, as explained in the next section.

First and foremost, your device warranty will become null and void and the unlocking process [which is a prerequisite for rooting] will reset your device. Along the same lines, apps like Google Pay and Netflix will not be able to function properly. The KNOX counter will also be tripped. This will result in your inability to use apps like Samsung Pay, Secure Folder, Samsung Health, etc. The worst part is the fact that this Knox is hardware-related [eFuse].

So even if you return to stock and re-lock the bootloader, the Knox will stay tripped. Furthermore, the implementation of security measures such as Prenormal RMM State, DEFEX, and Vaultkeeper might further complicate the matter. So proceed ahead at your own risk. Droidwin and its members wouldn’t be held responsible in case of a thermonuclear war, your alarm doesn’t wake you up, or if anything happens to your device by performing the below steps.

Now that you have unlocked the bootloader on your Samsung device, you can proceed ahead to root it without the PC using Eros Samsung Flasher. Here, my primary device is Samsung which needs to be rooted and the secondary one is a OnePlus 11 that will “act as a PC”. So without any further ado, let’s get started.

  1. To begin with, download and extract the firmware on your phone.
This will give you the following files: AP, BL, CP, CSC, and Home_CSC.
  2. Now install the Magisk app. Then launch it and tap Install next to Magisk.
  3. Choose “Select and Patch a file” > select the extracted AP file > Tap Let’s Go.root samsung without pc
  4. Magisk will now patch the AP file and place it in the Downloads folder.
This process will take time, up to 10-15 minutes.
  5. Now download and install the ZArchiver app on your device.
  6. Then launch it and select the patched AP file. It will now be extracted.
The extracted files will usually be in .img and .lz4 formats.

  7. Once extracted, select all the files and compress them to the .TAR format.
  8. Once done, you’ll get the magisk_patched_xyz.tar file.root samsung without pc
  9. Now download and install Eros Samsung Flasher from GitHub on your secondary device.
  10. Then launch it and load the patched TAR file to the AP slot.
  11. Likewise, load the BL, CP, and CSC [the normal one] files to their slots.
We are using the CSC and not Home_CSC because we need a factory reset.
  12. Now boot your Samsung device to Download Mode and connect it to the secondary device via OTG.
  13. Once your device is in the Download Mode, you’ll get a prompt in the Eros app, hit OK.root samsung without pc
  14. Finally, hit Start and the flashing will start. Once done, your device will ask for a reset, do so.
  15. After that, it will boot to the OS. Launch Magisk and hit OK in the prompt that appears.
  16. That’s it. Your device will undergo a reset and the rooting stands complete.
