Many users are reporting that the rear camera glass on their Pixel 7/Pro is breaking all of a sudden. The latest iteration of Pixel devices has received a truckload of praise from numerous domains. To be fair there have been some noticeable changes on the brighter side when it comes to the software side, and a major reason for the same could be attributed to its new improved Tensor chipset. However, things don’t look so great if we turn our attention toward the hardware domain.
Pixel 7/Pro Rear Camera Glass Break
Numerous Pixel 7/Pro users have voiced their concern that the rear camera glass on their Pixel 7/Pro is breaking without any manual intervention from their end. While this is quite a worrisome issue in itself, the way in which the Silicon Valley giant is currently acting is only making the matter worse.
According to many Pixel 7/Pro affected users, Google has informed them that this shattering rear glass camera doesn’t come under warranty coverage, and hence they have to shell out around $200 or €330 from their own pockets to get this issue rectified.
As far as a plausible reason for this issue is concerned, some are attributing it to a change in temperature towards the colder side, but that doesn’t really add up.
It has been close to two decades since smartphones first made their way and to date, we haven’t seen any instances where a component of the device tends to break due to weather conditions. But if that is really the case, then it could definitely be some of the worst hardware of a smartphone that we could recall in recent times.
Is Google Aware?
As far as the official stance on this matter is concerned, Google, by now, would definitely be aware of this issue, however, you shouldn’t expect any help from their end, unless you are ready to shell out the quoted price that they demand. It is definitely a sad state of affairs that users end up purchasing such a costly product only for it to get bugged by a hardware issue of such a magnitude proportion and that too without any help from the OEM.
So unless you are ready to enable the torchlight on your Pixel 7/Pro, you shouldn’t expect to see any light at the end of the tunnel. On that note, we round off this post. We will be updating it at regular intervals as and when there’s any further development surrounding the same.
