Philips Hue Lights Offline in Google Home [Fixed]

In this guide, we will show you a handy workaround that will help you fix the Philips Hue Lights offline issue with Google Home. These sets of smart lights from Philips are among the most popular players in this domain. However, as of late, it seems to be having a tough time interacting with the Home app from the Silicon Valley giant.

Philips Hue Lights Offline Google Home

Numerous users have voiced their concern that the Google Home app tells them that their Philips Hue lights are offline when infact they are working well and good in the Hue app and HomeKit. As a result of this, users are unable to control their Hue lights through Google Assistant anymore. Here’s what one of the affected users had to say in this regard:

Hello.
For some time now I’ve had a problem with Google home: my philips hue lights no longer work.
This prompted me to unlink / link my Philips hue account. Unfortunately, since then I’ve been unable to connect it, and I keep getting the same error: “could not reach philips hue”.
I’ve since tried everything I could find on the internet (reboot the bridge, my internet, my phone, create a new hue account, “clean up” in the hue app, uninstall google home, from another phone, …)
Note that everything works from the Philips hue app. But I can no longer control my lights by voice.
Someone have an idea, I do not know what to do!
Thanks a lot!

If you are also facing this issue then this guide will make you aware of a nifty workaround that should help you address this bug. So without further ado, let’s check it out.

Fix Philips Hue Lights Offline Bug with Google Home

Philips Hue Lights Offline Google Home

If your Hue is already connected to Google Home, then you’ll have to unlink it first, or else, the new integration might not work correctly. But a the same time, unlinking will delete any automations or room assignments that you’ve set up for your lights in Google Home, so you will have to reconfigure them once again after implementing the below fix. If that’s all well and good, then let’s get started with the steps.

  1. To begin with, launch the Philips Hue app on your device.
  2. Then go to Settings and scroll to Smart Home under Smart Integrations.
  3. Now select Other apps and tap on Get pairing code.
  4. You’ll get an 11-digit code. Copy it
  5. Now open Google Home, hit the ‘add’ button, and select Set up device.
  6. Then choose Matter-enabled device and select Set up without QR code.
  7. Finally, paste the pairing code from the Hue app when prompted.
  8. Google Home will now identify your Hue Bridge device via Matter [instead of other cloud-based integrations] and the issue will be rectified.

So these were the steps to fix the Philips Hue Lights offline issue with Google Home. As far as the official stance on this matter is concerned, the developers are yet to acknowledge this issue, let alone give out any ETA for the rollout of a fix. As and when any of these two things happen, we will update this guide accordingly. In the meantime, the aforementioned workarounds are your best bet.
