Just when you thought OnePlus have exhausted all the pages of its book on how to disappoint its consumers, the OEM it seems is back with a new book altogher! Numerous users have been reporting from the past few months that whenever they interact with the alert slider while browsing the web via Chrome on their OnePlus device, it would end up opening the Find my page feature of the browser.

For the unaware, the alert slider is one of the device’s USP that allows you to control the volume just by toggling the slider. However, as is the case with all good things in the OnePlus domain, this too has is slowly being shelved out in newer devices [with the OnPlus 10T being the first in line]. So it makes perfect sense for the OEM to mess up this hardware feature so that users in the near future doesn’t not yearn for this feature anymore.

On a serious note though, this issue sine present since Android 11/OxygenOS 11 and has since been carried over to Android 12/OxygenOS 12 or rather ColorOS 12. Moreover, apart from Chrome, Brave and Microsoft Edge are also in the affected party list. While there is still no fix for this issue, there are a couple of “obvious” workarounds that you could try to mitimage from this issue. First off, do not interact with the alert slider while you are using the browser. Secondly, this issue is only affecting the Chromum browsers, so you may opt for a non-Chromium alternative, such as Firefox.

So keep these tweaks in mind and it should help you fix the issue of OnePlus alert slider opening the ‘Find in page’ option in Google Chrome. As far as the official stance on this matter is concerned, the developers are yet to acknowledge this issue, let alone give out any ETA for the rollout of a fix.
