In this guide, we will show you the steps to automate WhatsApp, iMessage, and Telegram messages on your iPhone. There might have been many instances wherein you would forget to wish your near or dear ones on their social occasion. Be it the birthdays, marriage anniversaries, or even the birth of their children, these occasions definitely deserve a raise of a toast. But only if you remember it in the first place!
To address this, you can add these dates to your calendar or set a reminder and then manually send them the message. Or automate the entire process! As soon as the day comes, your iPhone will automatically send the message of your choice via the app of your choice to the receipt of your choice! There’s no need to be any manual intervention from your end whatsoever, apart from the obvious first-time setup. So without any further ad, let’s show you how this could be carried out.
How to Automate WhatsApp, iMessage, and Telegram Messages on iPhone
- Launch the Shortcuts app and go to the Automation tab.
- Then tap on New Automation [or the plus icon if you already have an existing automation].
- Now select the Time of Day and Repeat frequency of this reminder.
- Then select Run Immediately and hit Next.
- Now tap on Send Message and search WhatsApp at the bottom bar.
- Then select the WhatsApp Contact from the list.
- Now type in the desired message and hit Done.
That’s it. The automation is now created. The message will now be sent to the intended recipient at the scheduled date and time via the chosen app.
Are there any Drawbacks?
Well, just one, and it could be a major one for some users out there! As you might have seen in the Repeat schedule, there’s the option to choose from Daily, Weekly, or Monthly but not Yearly or Only Once. Until a person’s birthday is celebrated every month, we don’t think this automation will come in handy for many! As to why Yearly is not included, well, it’s the same old classic Apple principles wherein it tends to add and remove features based on its whims and fancies.
So what else could be done? Well, you can opt for third-party apps such as Reminderbase, Moxy Messenger, and Fext. However, personally, I never use any third-party SMS apps because most of the confidential data [including banking OTPs] is still shared via messages which these apps would obviously have access to. But if that’s not a major concern for you, then you can definitely have a look at the aforementioned apps.
