iOS 16 Music Player: Volume Control Removed from Lock Screen!

The latest iteration of the OS is in the beta stage and within a month or so, it will be rolled out to stable users. However, before that happens, Apple needs to address an important concern- the removal of Volume Control from the Music player on the lock screen on iOS 16. Up until iOS 15, the music player on the lock screen adopted the small card-style format alongside the miniature version of the album art.

However, beginning with the sixteenth version of the OS, you will now get a full-screen album art with an ardent focus on being minimalistic in nautre. However, it seems that the Cupertino giant has prioritized aesthetics over usability. This is because, in order to get a clean UI, it has removed the ability to view and change the volume level directly from the lock screen. So you will now have to use the hardware key combination to tweak the volume.

While this still makes sense up to an extent, it calls for an unnecessary effort if you are just willing to check the current volume level. Talking about unnecessary effort, you will now have to drag down the control center to know my current volume which in turn would require you to unlock the device. What is even more confusing is the fact that the option to change the volume from the lock screen would re-appear if you are using AirPlay.

So removing the option for one domain whereas keeping it enabled for the other just really adds up. The only optimism left is the fact that the build is currently in the beta stage, so if you are one of the testers, we would recommend you to make your voices heard and make Apple bring back this much-needed feature, which shouldn’t have been replaced in the first place!
