How to Flash Pitch Black Recovery Project on Galaxy S20 FE

In this guide, we will show you the steps to flash the Pitch Black Recovery Project onto your Galaxy S20 FE device. For the unaware, PBRP is a custom recovery similar to TWRP, but with better UI/UX design elements. There isn’t any additional feature that you’ll find in this recovery over its counterpart, but if you have a high value for the user interface, then this recovery should definitely be on the priority list.

With that said, since we dealing with the Samsung ecosystem, you cannot simply flash it in the Fastboot Mode, instead you’ll have to work in the Download Mode and take the help of a third-party tool to flash it [all of this has been explained below]. So without any further ado, let’s get started.

Before starting, please take a backup of all the data on your device. Droidwin and its members wouldn’t be held responsible in case of a thermonuclear war, your alarm doesn’t wake you up, or if anything happens to your device and data by performing the below steps.

As far as bugs are concerned, this recovery doesn’t “yet” support SD Card. So in case the recovery is not able to decrypt data, then doing a format data will be the only way. Only proceed ahead if that’s all well and good.

There exist two different methods through which you can flash this recovery. Go through both of them once and then try the one that is in sync with your requirements.

METHOD 1: Flash Via Odin

This method will come in handy if your device does not already have any custom recovery installed [which should be the case with most of you out there].

  1. First off, unlock the bootloader on your device.
  2. Then reboot the device to the Download Mode.Cannot Boot to Download Mode on Samsung
  3. Next up download and extract Odin on the PC.

If you already have a custom recovery like TWRP installed but want to make a switch to PBRPM, then this method is for you. Do note that you could still use the aforementioned method, but that will require additional time and effort from your end. So with that in mind, let’s get started:

  1. First off, boot your device to TWRP/OrangeFox.
  2. Then go to Install > select recovery.zip > flash it.
  3. Go to Wipe > Format Data to remove encryption.
  4. Finally, select Reboot > System to boot to the OS.

That’s it. These were the two different methods through which you can flash the Pitch Black Recovery Project onto your Galaxy S20 FE. If you have any queries concerning the aforementioned steps, do let us know in the comments. We will get back to you with a solution as soon as possible.
