How to Identify the Correct Firmware for My Device?
That’s a great question as the OEM follows a rather complicated naming scheme for its firmware files. For instance, if we talk about the Poco F5, then the latest firmware [at the time of writing] is OS1.0.12.0.UMRINXM. Let’s try and understand what each of these alphabets and numbers signifies:
- OS1.0.12.0: The firmware version number.
- U: Android Codename. In this case, it is Android 14 aka Upside Down Cake.
- MR: Device Codename for Pooc F5 [it will obviously be different for your device].
- IN: Region. IN is India, CN China, MI Global, EU Europe, CN China, and so on.
- XM: Xiaomi Firmware Code. It is the same for all Xiaomi devices.
