Sometimes, taking a page out of your competitor’s boom might turn out to be a great idea if you end up doing so in the right manner. In this regard, the Chinese OEM seems to have perfected this move, at least when it comes to reading the Cupertino giant’s book on Dynamic Island. It has implemented this functionality in its latest flagship and dubbed it Live Capsule [though if you end up searching Island in the Settings menu, the OS will take you to Live Capsule! Well played, OnePlus].
For the unaware, Live Capsule will aid you in getting real-time updates and activities from various system/third-party apps and services [such as ETA for food delivery apps and cabs, countdown timer, screen recording, and music player, among others. You may swipe right on the pill to access all the pending notifications or swipe left to remove them. Likewise, long pressing on that capsule will open the associated app.
But even after giving us a plethora of customization features, there’s one major piece missing from the jigsaw- Spotify is the only music player that works in the Live Capsule, all the other third-party ones are left behind. While it seems more of an intentional move than anything else [maybe they have a partnership or something of that sort], still, it seems to have ruffled quite a few feathers, and rightly so. If you are also in the same boat, then fret not.
In this guide, we will show you a nifty method using which you can easily enable any Music Player of your choice in the Live Capsule on your OnePlus 13. And the best part? This tweak doesn’t even require root! So without any further ado, let’s get started.

How to Enable Other Music Players in Live Alert Capsule on OnePlus 13

There exist two different methods to get this job done- root and non-root. In the case of the former, we will be the required patch and change its app package name to one of the supported apps [such as Spotify]. This process is going to be lengthy and a tad bit complicated. On the other hand, in the case of the non-rooted method, you just need to add the desired app package name to the Live Capsule’s app whitelist section.
The only drawback with this method is that it requires root, which in turn will lead to the Play Integrity fiasco. Anyway, we have given both methods below. Go through them once and then try out the one that is in sync with your requirements. Droidwin and its members wouldn’t be held responsible in case of a thermonuclear war, your alarm doesn’t wake you up, or if anything happens to your device and data by performing the below steps.
Without Root
- To begin with, download and install the Revanced app.
- Then launch it and tap on OK in the download prompt.
- Go to the Patcher tab > Select an app > YouTube Music.
- Now tap on the Suggested version under YouTube Music.
- It will take you to a Google Search. Go to the APK Mirror.
- Download & install the suggested app version from there.
NOTE: If you are unable to install the said version of the app, then first remove the existing one from the Settings menu. If it is a system app, then you’ll have to do so via the ADB shell command adb shell pm uninstall –user 0 com.google.android.apps.youtube.music
- Now go back to the ReVanced Manager app and head over to its Settings tab.
- Then enable “Allow changing patch selection” and “Show universal patches”.
- Again go to Patcher > Select an App > This time, tap on the Storage button.
- Then select the suggested version of the APK that you had earlier downloaded.
- Now tap Selected Patches > Check Change package name > tap the gear icon.
- Change Default to Custom Value > type com.spotify.music > Hit the icon Save.
NOTE: If you already have Spotify installed and don’t plan on uninstalling it, then use the package name of any other app that is supported in the Live Capsule [see the list at the end of this guide].
- Now tap Done and make sure Change Package Name is added under Patches.
- Finally, hit Patch and let the app do its job [which could take a few seconds].
- Once done, hit Install > Regular > Install > Install > Install without scanning.
- Now tap open and Revanced will take you to their GMSCore page on GitHub.
- Download and install the APK and launch it. Then go to the Google Accounts.
- Sign in to your account using the same one that you will use in YouTube Music.
- Finally, launch the YouTube Music, play a song, and check out the Live Capsule!
With Root
- To begin with, root your OnePlus 13 via Magisk/KernelSU/APatch.
- After that, download and install a root-supported file manager app.
- Launch it and go to the below location [hit Grant in the SU request]
/data/user_de/0/com.android.systemui/shared_prefs/oplus_media_controller_config_sp.xml
- Then add the desired app package name to that list and save the file.
