STEP 2: Enable USB Debugging and OEM Unlocking

You will also have to enable USB Debugging and OEM Unlocking on your device. The former will make your device recognizable by the PC in ADB mode. This will then allow you to boot your device to Fastboot Mode. On the other hand, OEM Unlocking is required to carry out the bootloader unlocking process.

So head over to Settings > About Phone > Tap on Build Number 7 times > Go back to Settings > System > Advanced > Developer Options > Enable USB Debugging and OEM Unlocking.

STEP 3: Unlock Bootloader

STEP 4: Download the T-Mobile to Global Conversion Package

  1. You may now grab hold of the T-Mobile to Global Conversion Package for your OnePlus 9 device from the below link [Credits: XDA Member Lomeli12].

  2. Do note that this firmware will install the Global Firmware version 11.2.2.2 onto your device. Moreover, once you have downloaded the package, extract it to the platform-tools folder on your PC.

STEP 5: Boot to Fastboot Mode

  1. Now connect your device to the PC via USB cable. Make sure USB Debugging is enabled.
  2. Then head over to the platform-tools folder, type in CMD in the address bar, and hit Enter. This will launch the Command Prompt.
  3. Type in the following command in the CMD window to boot your device to Fastboot Mode
    adb reboot bootloader

    adb-reboot-bootloader-command

  4. To verify the Fastboot connection, type in the below command and you should get back the device ID.

STEP 6: Flash the Conversion Firmware

  1. Head over to the platform-tools folder where you had extracted the firmware package.
  2. Then double click on the flash_all.bat file to launch the flash file.

  3. The flashing process will now begin and could take a couple of minutes.

STEP 7: Factory Reset via Recovery

  1. Once the flashing is complete, your device will still be in Fastboot. You will have to boot it to the stock recovery and then wipe the data.
  2. So execute the below command to boot your device to the Recovery Mode from the current Fastboot Mode:

  3. Now type in the screen lock password (if asked), select your desired language, and then choose Wipe Data and Cache.

  4. After that, select ‘Erase Everything’ followed by ‘This can not be undone, continue’.
  5. Once the reset is complete, boot your device to the OS and set it up from scratch.

STEP 8: Update to the Latest OxygenOS

  1. Head over to the Play Store and download the Oxygen Updater app.
  2. Then launch it and it should automatically identify your device and bring up the latest available update. So download and install that update.

  3. Once done, go to Settings > System > System Updates and check if it shows any pending updates. If there’s one, then download and install it as well.

  4. Once all the updates are installed, you will have to reboot your device to the system [compulsory, not optional].

STEP 9: Flash T-Mobile Modem file

  1. Now reboot your device to the Fastboot Mode using the instructions given in STEP 5.
  2. After that, head over to the platform-tools folder, type in CMD in the address bar, and hit Enter. This will launch the Command Prompt.

  3. Make sure that the conversion package is in this platform-tools folder as well.
  4. Now execute the below command in this CMD window to flash the T-Mobile modem file:
    fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin

  5. Once done, you may now reboot the device to the OS via the below command:
    fastboot reboot
