In this guide, we will show you the steps to add the Face Unlock functionality to the Google Pixel 6/Pro/6A devices. The devices from the Silicon Valley giant are known for their excellent camera quality, timely OS updates, and clean stock usage experience. On the flip side though, it is also known for some glaring omissions, but none could come close to the unavailability of Face Unlock. In this regard, Pixel 4 was the last in the lineup to behold this feature.
From then onwards up to the sixth iteration, this feature has been removed [though Pixel 7 series have once again bought it back]. Many users prefer to unlock their device via Face unlock as it is the easiest and in some cases the fastest way to get this job done, so its exclusion was sure to infuriate many. With that said, there does exist a nifty workaround through which you could add Face Unlock to your Google Pixel 6/Pro/6A. And in this guide, we will show you how to do just that. Follow along.
How to Add Face Unlock feature on Pixel 6/Pro/6A
In order to carry out this task, your device should be rooted via Magisk. Droidwin and its members wouldn’t be held responsible in case of a thermonuclear war, your alarm doesn’t wake you up, or if anything happens to your device and data by performing the below steps.
- To begin with, install the Xposed Framework/LSPosed on your device [NOTE: Install the Zygisk version].
- Then download and install the universalauth-xposed-release.apk file from GitHub.
- After that, launch Xposed Framework, go to the Modules section, and select UniversalAuth.
- Now turn on the toggle next to Enable Module [make sure System UI is checked] and restart your device.
- After that, download and install the faceunlock-release.apk. Now launch it and hit OK in the Download Required prompt.
- If you get an error while downloading, then download this Face Unlock APK corresponding to the architecture [do not install it].
- Now tap on Manual Import and select that APK file. It will be imported. Once done, you will get a prompt, tap Allow.
- After that, enable the Accessibility Service permission for Face Unlock.
- Now download and install Macrodroid from Play Store.
- Then launch it, go to Templates, and search ‘lsposed universal auth face unlock’. Now add it to your macro.
- To verify if it is added and running, go to Macros and make sure ‘lsposed universal auth face unlock’ is enabled.
- Once done, go to Accessibility Settings and enable Accessibility for the following three settings:
- Then go back to the app and disable Auto dismiss Lockscreen.
- Then tap on Start Setup and proceed with the on-screen instructions to add your face.
- Once done, you should get the All Set message and this signifies that the Face Unlock has been successfully added.
