FIX 1: Downgrade+Force Close Tweak

1. To begin with, uninstall the Netflix app from your device.
2. Then download and install its older version 7.50.0 build 8 34768.
3. Now launch it and then close it.
4. Then update the app to the latest version from the Google Play Store.
5. Now open it, sign in, and then force close the app.
6. Then reopen the app and wait till you get the “error -93” code.
7. Once that happens. force close the app.
8. Again, open the app and this time, you won’t get any error messages.

FIX 2: Try Netflix App for Non-Certified Devices

FIX 3: Use Old Netflix App

Some users were able to rectify this issue after installing quite an old version of the app and then updating it via the Play Store.

1. Download an old Netflix APK file [recommended: v6.21 or v6.22]
2. Then install it onto your device but do not launch it.
3. After that, go to Play Store, search Netflix, and update.

FIX 4: Hide Root from Netflix

FIX 5: Flash DRM Disabler Module

You could also take a nifty approach of disabling the DRM status on your device. Since Netflix wouldn’t be able to get the required DRM-related data, it wouldn’t get an iota of a hint that your device has been tinkered with. So proceed with the below steps to give this fix a try [it requires a rooted device].

1. Download the Liboemcrypto and Magisk DRM Disabler modules.
2. Then transfer both these modules to your device.
3. After that, launch the Magisk App and go to the Modules section.
4. Then select the Magisk DRM Disabler to flash it.
5. Likewise, flash the Liboemcrypto module as well.
6. Once both the modules are flashed, reboot your device.
7. Then install the Netflix v6.21 or v6.22 and check if it fixes the Error -93 on your Android device.

FIX 6: Flash Location Spoof Module

As strange as it may sound, flashing a location spoofing module via LSposed [Xposed], along with flashing the DRM Disabler module and hiding root via Magisk did manage to rectify this issue. So let’s put this fix to the test and check out the results.

1. First off, hide the root from Netflix and Google Play Service using the instructions given in FIX 3.
2. After that, flash the DRM Disabler Module using the instructions given in FIX 4.
3. Then install LSposed and subsequently install the Mock Location module.
4. Now install Netflix v6.21 or v6.22 and check if it fixes the Error -93 on your Android device.

FIX 7: Re-Lock Bootloader

If none of the aforementioned methods managed to work out in your favor, then you have no choice but to revert to the stock settings. In other words, you will have to re-lock the bootloader. While you will end up losing all the goodies, but you will be able to watch Netflix without any issues with L1 Certification. So on that note, here’s what you need to do [the process will wipe all the data, so take a complete device backup beforehand].

1. To begin with, remove all the mods and tweaks from your device [Root, Xposed, TWRP, Custom ROM, etc].
2. Then download and extract Android SDK Platform Tools on your PC.
3. After that, enable USB Debugging on your device and connect it to PC via USB cable.
4. Then head over to the platform-tools folder, type in CMD in the address bar, and hit Enter. This will launch the Command Prompt.
5. After that, type in the following command in the CMD window to boot your device to Fastboot Mode

   adb reboot bootloader

   

6. Now execute either of the two below commands to relock the bootloader-

   fastboot oem lock
   fastboot flashing lock

7. That’s it. Your device will undergo a reset and subsequently the bootloader will be relocked.
8. Now set up your device and install Netflix. You should no longer face any issues now.
