In this guide, we will show you the steps to download and install the Android 14 GSI ROM onto your device. The fourteenth iteration of the OS has just been released by Google and there are quite a few noteworthy features to look forward to. STEP 1: Check For Project Treble Compatibility

First and foremost, you will have to check if your device is treble-compatible or not. A general rule of thumb is every device that came with Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box supports Project Treble. However, let’s still be double-sure. So head over to the Play Store and download the Treble Check app.

Now launch the app and the result will be right in front of you. If you see a tick mark next to Project Treble along with the text that “Your device includes support for Project Treble…..” then you can proceed ahead with the steps to download and install the latest Android 14 GSI Image on your device.

STEP 3: Install Android SDK

Next up, install the Android SDK Platform Tools on your PC. This is the official ADB and Fastboot binary provided by Google and is the only recommended one. So download it and then extract it to any convenient location on your PC. Doing so will give you the platform-tools folder, which will be used throughout this guide.

STEP 4: Download Android 14 GSI

Grab hold of the Android 14 GSI ROM corresponding to your device’s CPU architecture from the below link. Once downloaded, extract it inside the platform-tools folder on your PC [if you are opting for the fastboot commands method].

These are the officially released GSI ROms by Google and are only compatible with Google Pixel devices.


These GSI images are compatible across all the devices that support Project Treble [every device launched with Android 8.0+ out of the box].


STEP 5: Enable USB Debugging and OEM Unlocking

Next up, you will also have to enable USB Debugging and OEM Unlocking on your device. The former will make your device recognizable by the PC in ADB mode. This will then allow you to boot your device to Fastboot Mode. On the other hand, OEM Unlocking is required to carry out the bootloader unlocking.

So head over to Settings > About Phone > Tap on Build Number 7 times > Go back to Settings > System > Advanced > Developer Options > Enable USB Debugging and OEM Unlocking.

STEP 6: Unlock Bootloader

STEP 7: Boot to Fastboot Mode/FastbootD Mode

  1. Now connect your device to the PC via a USB cable. Make sure USB Debugging is enabled.
  2. Then head over to the platform-tools folder, type in CMD in the address bar, and hit Enter. This will launch the Command Prompt.
  3. Type in the following command in the CMD window to boot your device to Fastboot Mode
    adb reboot bootloader

  4. After that, execute the below command to boot your device to the FastbootD Mode [Note: If your device doesn’t support FastbootD, then you should remain on the Fastboot Mode]

STEP 8: Install Android 14 GSI via Fastboot Commands

If you want to simply test the GSI ROM, then you could also use the DSU Loader App [though you might still have to disable verity checks by flashing vbmeta].

  1. First off, execute the below command to flash the vbmeta file. This will disable Android Verified Boot (AVB):
    fastboot flash vbmeta --disable-verity --disable-verification vbmeta.img

  2. After that, wipe the system partition using the below command:
    fastboot erase system
  3. You may now flash the Android 14 GSI image via the below command [this will take time]
    fastboot flash system system.img
  4. Next up, you will have to factory reset the device. So execute the following command:
    fastboot -w
  5. That’s it. You may now reboot the device to the OS via the below command
    fastboot reboot
