The latest iteration of the OS from the South Korean giant has finally been rolled out to its flagships after weeks of delay. But we would have liked it if it got delayed even further because there are some highly controversial and questionable decisions that it has taken in its new OS skin. While it’s rightly being praised for the slew of intriguing goodies that it brings with itself without compromising on the system stability, but there is also one major problem with this OS that surprisingly no one is talking about.
Up until now, if you wanted to connect a device via Bluetooth to your smartphone, you just needed to put that device in the pairing mode. Your phone will then bring up a list of all the nearby devices that are in the pairing mode and ready to connect- you just have to select the desired device and the connection will be established successfully. Well, not anymore.
The One UI 7 will now only display those Bluetooth devices that have a connectable profile, in other words, a pairing app. While most of the devices nowadays come with such an app that you can easily download from the Play Store, there are literally tons of other apps that don’t have such an app. So what about those devices?
Well, even if Bluetooth is enabled on your phone and the said device is in pairing mode, it will not be visible on your phone! Seriously it begs the question of how ends u making such a high-level decision without even giving a second thought and what actually they were trying to achieve by implementing this functionality.
Well, the talk of the town is your Bluetooth list will no longer be populated with tons of unnecessary device lists, it will now only have the ones that the genuine one that comes with their companion app. So this means that the devices that don’t have companion apps are not genuine? I haven’t got any weird justification for any tech-related [or even non-tech-related product] to date.
Unfortunately, we could only voice our displeasure because the South Korean conglomerate has already implemented this so-called feature, though at the time of writing it is only visible on the latest Galaxy S25 series, but don’t be surprised if the predecessors also end up getting blessed with this as it is after all a One UI change and not a hardware one.
