FIX 1: Tweak Network Flag

Your first course of action should be to disable the Use Network Framework for Local Discovery flag. Here’s how it can be done:

  1. Launch Chrome and go to the below location:
    chrome://flags
  2. Next up, search for the below-mentioned flag:

  3. Then click on Default and select Disabled from the drop-down menu.
  4. Finally, hit Relaunch and check out the results.

FIX 2: Give Required Access to Chrome

You should also make sure that Chrome has access to both the “Local Network” and “Screen & System Audio Recording.” Here’s how it can be done:

  1. Launch System Settings and select Privacy & Security from the left-hand side.
  2. Then go to Local Network and make sure to enable all toggles next to Chrome.Chrome Tabs Cast Not Working on Mac

FIX 3: Run Chrome as Admin

Your next course of action should be to run the Chrome browser with administrative privileges and see if the underlying issue gets resolved.

  1. Head to Launchpad > Others > Launch Terminal.
  2. Now type in the below command in the Terminal.

    sudo /Applications/Google\ Chrome.app/Contents/MacOS/Google\ Chrome

  3. Type your password and Chrome will now launch.
  4. Check if the casting issue has been rectified or not.

FIX 4: Use Chrome Canary

If none of the aforementioned methods spelled out success, then your last course of action should be to make a jump over to the Chrome Canary build. For the unaware, the Canary builds are used for development purposes and hence might be a tad bit unstable but at the same time, they are the first in line to receive updates [before going to Beta and finally to Stable]. So there’s every chance that the issue might have been addressed in this build. So make a switch to Canary from here and see if it works out in your favor or not.

That’s it. These are the four methods that should help you fix the issue of being unable to cast Chrome tabs on Mac. As far as the official stance on this matter is concerned, the developers are aware of this issue, but they haven’t given out any ETA for the rollout of a fix. As and when that happens, we will update this guide accordingly. In the meantime, the aforementioned workarounds are your best bet.
