In this guide, we will make you aware of the reason why the Caps Lock key on your Mac takes too long to respond and how you can fix this problem. So recently, I had bought a new iMac from Amazon, even though many suggested I get it from the Apple Store. The reason why I went for Amazon is the fact that it was offering numerous cashbacks on the purchase. However, soon I realized it might not have been the best choice to purchase from this e-commerce giant.
This is because as soon as I started writing an article, I found out that the Caps Lock key was not responding along the expected lines. Out of, let’s say, 5 key presses, it only responded once or twice. But before jumping to any conclusion, I decided to take a stroll to the World Wide Web, and thankfully, I came across this post wherein a user highlighted an important article from Apple. Here’s what the Cupertino giant has to say:
If the Media Eject key or Caps Lock key doesn’t work
Try holding down the key longer. These keys have a slight delay to prevent an immediate response if they’re pressed accidentally. Press and hold the Media Eject key until the Media Eject icon appears on the screen, and press and hold the Caps Lock key until the key’s indicator light comes on.
So this clarified all my doubts- this was not a problem, but rather it was by design [sorry Amazon]. Still, I wasn’t a fan of this design, and coming from a Windows platform, it was all the more difficult adjusting to such an implementation of this key. So, is there a way out? Well, there are a couple of handy workarounds that should help you rectify this ‘issue’. So without further ado, let’s check them out.
