Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 and M2 Android 10 Update: What we know so far

To begin with, we saw the news right in January itself that the Android 10 beta update has already been out for the Max Pro M1 and Max Pro M2 devices.

As far as the Android 10 update for Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 goes, the update was so buggy even from the Beta standard that users had to roll back to Pie stable build!

Then the next news came that the Android 10 update is now under evaluation and everyone should get clarity about the same by March-end.

Unfortunately, March came and went by, with no news about the update. Then came the news from the custom development scenes that Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 and M1 as well have received the Android 10 update via LineageOS 17.1. However, this wasn’t of much interest for many because only a small population of users are interested in unlocking flashing custom ROMs, etc.

Well  then, another user shouts out the question about the update as follows:

Funny enough, it was the same old reply from Asus with no concrete news and evidence insight.

While this fiasco was going on, there was a pretty hilarious incident that happened. Someone made viral a fake message, photoshopped on top of Asus’s original Twitter handle. It was regarding the Android 10 update for Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 is now out.

Anyways, moving on, the 9th of May bought news that the Zenfone Max Pro M1 gets an Android 10 update via CarbonROM 8. Again being a custom ROM, there wasn’t much to talk about this time as well.

Then on 12th May 2020, there was some evidence on the Geekbench listing that Android 10 update for the Zenfone Max Pro M1 and M2 is near as spotted on the Geekbench listing.

19th of May bought Android 10 to the Asus Zenfone Pro M2 via another famous custom ROM dubbed the Pixel Experience. One week later, the AOSP developer version of Android 10 was available for the Zenfone Max Pro M2.

While there was still no news of the Android 10 update, there were some clear cut indications about some of the features that will not be the part of the said update. These included the VoWifi, native call recording, and video calling functionality. The news came in on 11th June and is as follows:

Just the next day, Google’s Pixel 4 XL Android 11 Developer Preview 4 port got live for Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2. Well, on one side people were busy waiting for the Android 10 update, and here the custom development is up and running with Android 11. The irony is way too high in this!

A few days later (15th June), two more fake news began regarding the Android 10 update to these devices. These are the source (12) for both this news. [UPDATE: Both the pages have now been removed].

Then on the 16th of June, users made aware the users that there will be no slow-motion recording in the Android 10 update. So they seem to be busy in finding out what wouldn’t be the part of the update, but have no clue as to when the update will land in the first place!
